Valencia Central Park

Valencia Central Park

Following the relocation of high-speed trains below ground, Valencia’s Parque Central is one of the city’s most significant redevelopments to date. This 23-hectare park is the social heart of the city, uniting eastern and western neighbourhoods that were previously divided by the railway. The concept draws on the tradition of ceramics in Valencia, the presence of water and a celebration of the agricultural belt and vegetation in the region. 6 ‘bowls’ are created through terracing and landformation which are framed by the re-purposed railway buildings. These buildings house activities for sport, education, food and beverage which support the recreational activities within the park.
