Redevelopment of Badaevskiy Brewery site

Redevelopment of Badaevskiy Brewery site

Badaevskiy Brewery is a historic 6-hectare factory complex in the center of Moscow. Large portions of the Brewery’s structures are dilapidated. The remaining two of the three original brick buildings (1875-1912) have Cultural Heritage status. Our project carefully restores and reinforces these two buildings. The third previously demolished centerpiece of the historic ensemble is rebuilt in solid brick, true to the original design, to ensure architectural coherency. A disordered agglomeration of support buildings in the rear is removed. Residential, office and retail program is added in order to rejuvenate the site and support the renovation. The residential construction is lifted 35 meters in the air, supported on slender stilts like an elevated lodge in the forest. The height of the residences allows the historic buildings to retain their clear visibility from the city, as well as their direct connection to the river. A public park emerges in the vacated land under the hovering structures, between the heritage buildings and the waterfront.
