The danger of our cultural heritage, except for that of certain monumentality, is that it tends to be undervalued. Magnificent examples of popular architecture have been neglected to the point of dereliction, and the related public spaces, squares and streets, have been transformed and with loss of functions and character. The "Monument" as a singular element of great value on which our Historic Heritage is based, has been changed for “the Cultural Site", defined as all those elements that have a relationship with the history of the town, as well as for a value of the Site in its natural context, as "Cultural Landscape". To increase the Heritage, an aim of the Plan means to advance on that ranking of cultural and historic landmarks. The Plan involves public participation and opportunities to gain recognition and support. Once approved, it will ease small changes vital for the normal life of a settlement, and assist all interested people and organizations, to exploit the advantages and founds open to Cultural Sites.
