AHI Architectural Heritage Intervention

“Contributing to enhancing our heritage, as the way forward for 21 st Century architecture is our raison d’être; to emphasize a diverse, rich vision that necessarily complements the intervention is our mission, and achieving it with reflexive and purposeful efforts is the challenge”.

This project, founded in, and directed since, 2011 by Ramon Calonge, Oriol Cusidó, Marc Manzano and Jordi Portal, architects and members of the Group of Architects for the Defence and Intervention in Architectural Heritage (AADIPA), has, through the years become a platform that includes four actions that are both independent and transversal.

The European Award, a biennial event that brings together and showcases the multiple approaches of intervention in Europe.

The International Biennial, a framework that serves to compare and gain closer insight of quality interventions in architectural heritage in non-European countries.

The digital Archive, a live and open window that provides a panoramic view of interventions in the history of our surroundings.

The Forum, a meeting place where you can participate in on-going debates about the main preoccupations and lines of thought about interventions in architectural heritage in Europe.

Registration for the 7th edition of the Award closes with 238 participating projects from 24 European countries

21 April 2025

The seventh edition of the European AHI Award has officially closed its call for entries, with a total of 238 projects submitted by architectural firms and public and private entities. Once again, the response to the call has grown, as reflected in the fact that half of those competing in this edition are first-time entrants. As the number of participants continues to rise, the Award is gaining prominence in Europe with every edition.

For this edition, 159 projects have been submitted in the Built Heritage category, while participation in that of Exterior Spaces has grown compared to the previous edition, with 41 entries. The Jury will assess 10 projects in the Urban Planning category and deliberate on 28 entries in that of Disclosure. There are more public projects than private ones submitted across all four categories.

Iceland and Serbia, new first-time entrants
This edition includes 24 European countries, with Iceland and Serbia participating for the first time. Serbia is making its debut with entries by three architectural firms. As in previous editions, the countries with the most entries are Spain, France and Portugal. Several countries have doubled the number of projects submitted compared to the previous edition, including Turkey, Poland, Latvia, Slovenia and Malta. Ukraine is once again present, represented by a single project.

Entries have come from architectural firms, public institutions – primarily at the local level – and entities dedicated to the conservation and restoration of heritage.
