AHI Architectural Heritage Intervention

“Contributing to enhancing our heritage, as the way forward for 21 st Century architecture is our raison d’être; to emphasize a diverse, rich vision that necessarily complements the intervention is our mission, and achieving it with reflexive and purposeful efforts is the challenge”.

This project, founded in, and directed since, 2011 by Ramon Calonge, Oriol Cusidó, Marc Manzano and Jordi Portal, architects and members of the Group of Architects for the Defence and Intervention in Architectural Heritage (AADIPA), has, through the years become a platform that includes four actions that are both independent and transversal.

The European Award, a biennial event that brings together and showcases the multiple approaches of intervention in Europe.

The International Biennial, a framework that serves to compare and gain closer insight of quality interventions in architectural heritage in non-European countries.

The digital Archive, a live and open window that provides a panoramic view of interventions in the history of our surroundings.

The Forum, a meeting place where you can participate in on-going debates about the main preoccupations and lines of thought about interventions in architectural heritage in Europe.

The Award and Architectural Heritage in the Setmana d'Arquitectura 2019

Colloquium, "call for topics" and presentation of the book-catalogue for the 3rd edition

On Friday, May 17th at 6.00 pm, The European Award for Architectural Heritage Intervention AADIPA is organizing a free event open to the public at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona. The event, which is part of the programming of the Setmana d'Arquitectura 2019, an initiative promoted by the Barcelona City Council, the Architects Association of Catalonia (COAC) and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation, and on this occasion, is supported by Barcelona Building Construmat and ArquinFAD, will open with the presentation of the book-catalogue for the 3rd edition of the award, and will continue with the screening of the documentary "Call for Topics", culminating with the colloquium-debate: "Heritage: After the Intervention."

With this action the Award wants to highlight, once again, the relevance and convenience of disseminating and preserving architectural interventions of a patrimonial nature. For this, the directors of the contest, after presenting the volume that brings together the works which participated in its 3rd edition and the documentary "Call for Topics", which is hosted on the Award website and which, among other issues, promotes an open debate on the future of the intervention in Europe, will give way to an interesting colloquium. A conversation which will see participate Francesc Muñoz, UAB professor and specialist in urban planning and management and the design of territorial strategies; the Doctor in art history and currently, professor on the Master's degree in Cultural Heritage Management at the UB, Reinald Gonzàlez; and the technical architect, Master of Pathology, Diagnosis and Techniques of Rehabilitation in Architectural Heritage and professor of La Salle-URL, Dr Joan Olona,  to enable a rich discussion to take place around the necessary actions of maintenance, control and dissemination of interventions.  A debate-colloquium that arises from the conviction that the correct intervention methodology should consider the dissemination of the work once completed as essential, and not only as an object of study by the scientific community, but as an almost essential commitment to the community, the true users or beneficiaries of that heritage.

The European Award for Architectural Heritage Intervention AADIPA., which recently closed its fourth registration with remarkable success, with the winners being announced on June 13th at the COAC headquarters in Barcelona during the celebration of the IV Architectural Heritage Biennial AADIPA. This action sees the event participating in the Setmana d'Arquitectura for the second time.
