The values of Modernity; Barragan & Sostres
The IV International Biennial AHI was held in 2019 and featured Mexico as the guest country. The theme of the debate was “The values of Modernity; Barragan & Sostres. Intervention in Architectural Heritage in Mexico”. Experts from different fields participated in the event that was organised around two important themes and proposals: on one hand, offer a rationalised, critical approach to several interventions in heritage
in Mexico; and on the other, focus on proposing an analysis of the value of local architecture in the Modern Movement, with Luis Barragan as a staunch example of this architecture, versus Joep Maria Sostres, a Catalan architect whose works are ideal to establish a one-on-one dialogue with Barragan.
